Siblings sharing a room

Mum233 · 27/07/2022 20:27

I have a 7 year old DD and a 6 year old DS. They have always shared a room and love it. Until what we is appropriate for them to share?

As long as they're happy to.

I would guess they'll stop wanting to around the time puberty kicks in, so end of primary/11ish.

My niece 14 and nephew 12 are still happily sharing. Fairly recent arrangement actually- it's a loft room which used to be shared by the two eldest girls, then eldest niece gave up her spot as a birthday present to nephew. So cute. Not in the UK though and nobody having conniptions over it.

I'd say until DD hits puberty.

When the eldest is a about 10 or earlier if they say they aren't happy

In social housing terms it's age 10 for boy/girl siblings, 16 if same sex

It’s just guidance though, siblings can share any age no matter where they live it’s guidance not a law children in social housing still share way beyond 10 as the waiting lists are so long.
