Aibu to complain about this piercing

I had my belly button pierced on Monday expected some swelling, but I’m 99% sure it’s not even in the right place, it’s more like a surface piercing and not even a very good one, wibu to ask the shop to redo it properly.

Ontomatopea · 27/07/2022 10:38

I'm not sure if they can redo it? Wouldn't you get more holes/scaring?

dementedpixie · 27/07/2022 10:39

Is the bottom ball not supposed to sit in your belly button?

Placement doesn't look right

AlpacaBag · 27/07/2022 10:39

It looks like they've missed your belly button haven't they? How odd! Looks nice though xxx

dementedpixie · 27/07/2022 10:40

Maybe need to remove it and let it heal before being redone.

indigosparkle · 27/07/2022 10:42

Yes I was expecting the pink gem to sort of dangle in my belly button hole.
it was my treat to myself for losing 3 stone (still more to go)

Ah. Then yes complain. Did it look OK once they'd done it?

girlmom21 · 27/07/2022 10:47

What bar have they used to do that? You'll never be able to replace that with a normal naval bar.

TimeForTeaAndG · 27/07/2022 10:49

Did the piercer talk to you about placement?

Belly button piercings usually only have one hole above the actual belly button then the bottom hole comes through the top "wall" of the belly button. Where did you get it done, I'd be inclined to go somewhere else to get it redone as I wouldn't trust the original shop. Did they give you aftercare advice on cleaning and care?

dementedpixie · 27/07/2022 10:51

Was the clamp in your belly button before they pierced?

Nospringchix · 27/07/2022 10:59

Yes the placement is totally incorrect. I don't know how they managed to miss the belly button!
You might need to remove it and let it heal before having it redone by someone else.

KenAddams · 27/07/2022 11:01

Totally missing the point I was told if u get your belly button pierced in wrong place it can prevent you having an orgasm... don't know how much truth is to that either tho lol... but yes a bit high up

StripyHorse · 27/07/2022 11:01

I second the advice to go somewhere else to get it sorted. I realise this will cost more but I wouldn't have much confidence in the original piercer.

Did they discuss placement with you and make sure you were happy before they pierced it?

If you can find UK APP members (Association of Professional Piercers) nearby, I would try and arrange to go to one of those. Meanwhile, keep up the aftercare.

KenAddams · 27/07/2022 11:02

Just checked mine my first hole is where your pink gem is sitting ope u get it sorted x

HelloChompy · 27/07/2022 11:12

Massive congratulations on the weight loss, that's an awesome amount!

I'm not a piercer but I have a lot of piercings and follow several different UKAPP piercers on Facebook and that placement does not look right at all. Like you say, it's more like a surface piercing. I would go back to them and ask for a refund. I wouldn't get it redone there though..... I would find your nearest Association of Professional Piercer studio and go there instead. If you are in the Midlands I would recommend Rogue Piercing in Nottingham or Emma Reagan in Birmingham.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 27/07/2022 11:15

I’d go back as it’s not in the right place. It would heal pretty quickly I’d have thought. When mine was done years ago, they did it incorrectly, the re pierced it .

10HailMarys · 27/07/2022 11:23

They've made a shocking job of that. The placement's not right and the bar is too short.

Don't go back to the same shop; they're clearly not great at what they do. Find a reputable, UKAPP piercing studio (be prepared to travel for that and pay accordingly) and ask for advice. You can't 'fix' the existing piercing; you'll likely need to remove the jewellery and let it heal completely before getting it re-done. But get professional advice from a decent piercer ASAP before you do anything.

If you're anywhere near Manchester, Holier Than Thou is an excellent, gold-standard piercing studio.

10HailMarys · 27/07/2022 11:23

I was told if u get your belly button pierced in wrong place it can prevent you having an orgasm...

That's complete bollocks

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/07/2022 11:25

My DD got hers done at 16yo (her choice)
The lower gem on hers sits in the naval cavity

Your bar looks quite short too .

DD piercer spent a good while deciding on the placement , measured with her standing then sitting .

Lol! Not sure about that!

Plumtreebob · 27/07/2022 12:03

@10HailMarys - what a fantastic name for a piercing studio!

Coldilox · 27/07/2022 12:07

Second the recommendation for Holier Than Thou in Manchester, they are superb and I wouldn’t get pierced anywhere else. If not near Manchester look for a UKAPP accredited piercer.

That one looks very poorly done.
