Lighthearted post!

Sitting here feeling very sorry for myself with an awful upset stomach. Completely ruined my evening- I’ve spent it in pain and non stop running to the toilet.

Today I’ve eaten milk and cereal, sandwiches with butter, a white magnum, yogurt, some pizza and a banana milkshake

Did I mention that lactose upsets my stomach?!

Argh, why am I like this?! I know what happens when I eat too much dairy and every single time I tell myself i won’t let it happen again. Then the next day I’m elbows deep in ice cream and chocolate. I have absolutely 0 self control and deserve 0 sympathy but it doesn’t stop me feeling sorry for myself!

anyone else as pathetic as I am? 😂

I’m exactly the same!

CourtneeLuv · 26/07/2022 23:05

I'm prediabetic and ate 6 (supermarket own) cornettos on Sunday.

After eating a kebab wrap, pizza and chips on Saturday night. Which made me wake up ill, so ill like a hangover, on the Sunday but I still bought and ate the cornettos 🙄

lionessesrule · 26/07/2022 23:08

Some kind of painful self sabotage?! I think many people do this with food / men / alcohol / sleep. Like an unhappy circle!

Goshdarn · 26/07/2022 23:10

Not same exactly situation but I had WLS and continue to stuff my face with choc and crisps even though it makes me sick 🤮

I can't stop myself

FOJN · 26/07/2022 23:14

There are a few foods I don't tolerate very well and they make me feel really ill but when enough time has elapsed since my last episode of self harming with food I imagine I'm magically cured and can eat whatever I like. It's the very definition of insanity. I think little by little I am getting better at refusing or avoiding things that make me ill.

You are not alone.

APJ1 · 26/07/2022 23:18

I have IBS and there are certain sugary or dairy products that often give me hours of fun time on the toilet the next day. When that happens, I too always tell myself "I'm not doing this again!!" but then it comes to the next opportunity to eat that stuff and I lie to myself "Surely it won't be that bad!".

FOJN · 26/07/2022 23:19

Oh and my only tip for you is to resist the temptation to mentally berate yourself, it doesn't help. Next time you're confronted with the temptation to eat something you know doesn't agree with you tell yourself you care enough about yourself to make good choices. It's not perfect bit it does work for me more and more often now.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 26/07/2022 23:19

I self sabotage but not with food.

I run almost every day and train hard for races. Then every so often something bad or stressful happens and I smoke.

And I hate myself for smoking, cos it will impact the running. But I still do it. Sometimes just 20 but sometimes I will smoke 20 a day for a week 🤦‍♀️

EmmiJay · 26/07/2022 23:22

Ha! I did that the other week😌 had a large salted caramel frostino with whole milk AND a chocolate milkshake in one day because the ovulation demons told me to. Clinging to the towel rail like Rose in Titanic I was. It was a literal shit show that night.

Tougherpolicies · 26/07/2022 23:23

Oh yes, definitely do this in many ways! Spending money, eating rubbish etc

Bunnynames101 · 26/07/2022 23:25

I'm intolerant to a certain vegetable. But I love said vegetable.

On very rare occasions when I have no plans the next day I will have some, savour it, and suffer the consequences.

Or at least I did. The symptoms got worse every time and now it's so bad I can't do it anymore.

Purplehonesty2 · 26/07/2022 23:52

Diet Coke gives me the most awful headaches and big spots on my chin. Yet every damn time I am in a restaurant and they ask me what I want to drink.... yep... oh Diet Coke please?!!!!! 🤦‍♀️

IdiotCreatures · 26/07/2022 23:53

Mexican food. Always messes my IBS up. Every time. Starting with the first time I had it in France as a child.
But I do it again and again and again. Just love it every once in a while, but not the next day.
I've also had to give up fish and chips but that really was hell the last couple of times I had them so is less hard for me than the Mexican food..

BEAM123 · 27/07/2022 00:05

Take lactase tablets (Amazon or some health shops) 10 mins before and then have the lactose. Works wonders!

Crotonifolia · 27/07/2022 00:10

I get like this when I have too much milk. A small amount in a coffee or a tea, fine. But then sometimes the idea of a lovely cold glass of milk is too difficult to ignore...

(Also, agree on the ice cream and chocolate front.)

You're definitely not alone!

watermelonlipbalm · 27/07/2022 01:45

I think the banana milkshake alone would be a Pugh to give me an upset tummy 😳😬
Hope you enjoy your ice cream tomorrow when this is all over 🙈

anonymoooose · 27/07/2022 02:26

Oh yes honey I am the same. I will get a chocolate milkshake from Gourmet Burger Kitchen (it's SOOO thick and has chocolate bits in it) and it will rip my stomach apart.

I will practically be screaming for my mum on the loo but then a few months later will get another one lol

I have no advice just know I feel your pain lol

anonymoooose · 27/07/2022 02:29

@EmmiJay oh this made me laugh. An all too familiar scenario for me too

weightedblanketofshame · 27/07/2022 12:20

I am a glutton (quite literally) for punishment - IBS leaves me uncomfortable almost constantly but the FODMAP diet is SO depressing, I just keep taking Buscopan and hope for the best 😂

Robin233 · 27/07/2022 13:16

If anyone feels these are 'unbeatable' cavings try upping your animal protein.
This stopped my cravings overnight.

RagingWoke · 27/07/2022 13:25

Constantly! I have IBS and a few food set it off, but damn it if it isn't all the tasty things!
Currently sat doubled over a hot water bottle, buscopan at hand because I just had to eat the pizza and ice cream yesterday.

Annoyingly meat is also a trigger so the high protein diets with plenty of lean chicken or whatever are like opening a floodgate 🫣
