To think that I might be pregnant?

Sorry for the AIBU but I’m on my own and having a moment and just need some super quick advice, help or anything

I have been feeling a bit funny the last few days. My period was due, normally it’s regular like clockwork but it was 2-3 days late. I’m not even joking, it’s like if I am on the pill (I’m not and haven’t been for like 5+ years) but this time it was a couple of days late.

I had very dark bleeding most of the time, and light fresh blood for a day…

Ive been feeling unwell, started a few days before my period and still going on (I’m pretty much on my last day)

Feeling very nauseous, stomach feels funny, my poos been a bit odd (TMI sorry!) normally I have great bowel movement and very regular but I was just struggling the last few days.

I am feeling knackered like I’ll knackered, nausea is coming from my stomach and just generally unwell. Trying to eat and drink properly but nothing is helping.

Im in a long term relationship and we use condoms every time. I trust my partner and as a foreplay he sometimes penetrates me without a condom but he is very much aware on when to put it on, like well before he would climax.
I know it sounds like we are not careful but we are and I see him understanding his body and aware or the situation. Obviously I know that I can still get pregnant that way but the fact that we have been doing this for years and that I have PCOS I thought that alone wouldn’t be enough.

I also got a sore throat so maybe Im overthinking it but what are the chances that im pregnant?

Should I do a test now? Seems silly though as I’ve got my period and on my last day. I never ever done a test before… never needed it but something just feels off right now

If the bleeding is lighter than usual and you feel 'off' then I guess you could, especially if this isn't a normal period for you. I have PCOS and used the withdrawal method of contraception for 5 years. Fell pregnant twice first time when we actively tried so although it can work, the method you're using for contraception isn't infallible. Maybe test with your first morning urine tomorrow?

My first thoughts would be to do a COVID test, but pg could also be a very unlikely possibility. Do a test first thing.

Rowen32 · 25/07/2022 21:37

There's no harm doing a test but if you've got your period and it was normal for you (as in the amount of bleeding etc) it's unlikely you're pregnant..
Could it be gastroenteritis or some other kind of bug?
In my experience nausea doesn't start straight away, more like week 6...

ChorserSaucer · 25/07/2022 21:39

The fact you’ve had your period makes it seem unlikely but do a test if you want to put your mind at ease. I’ve had darker bleeding if my period has been late too & loose stools are common during menstruation due to uterine movement affecting the large intestine. These things seem explainable but there’s no harm in taking a test.

Thanks everyone, I don’t have a test at home… and whilst I know how test works I’m not sure how to calculate when to test…

i did do a lateral flow test… it’s negative but who knows.

i just feel like something is not OK 🤷🏻‍♀️

My nausea started both times before I'd missed my period.

If you are pregnant it would show on a test by now even without FMU.. They're 99% from before your period is due now (the majority of them).
