WWYD - evening invite

If you received a wedding invite for the evening part only and the function was being held in a really rural, awkward to reach (I don't drive) place with no chance of a lift and no train station or public transport near the venue, would you attend?

It's my cousin's wedding. Huge family and she invited everyone except my sister and I to the whole day plus the evening bits. I think we were left out of the main ceremony and afternoon bit because our parents and hers fell out a while ago.

My sister lives abroad and has already RSVPd to say she won't be attending.

I really don't want to go (especially without my sister). I've never been close to this cousin and only ever see her at weddings or funerals anyway. No relationship with her really.

I really can't justify forking out hundreds of pounds to attend the evening.

How can I decline in a polite way?

Just send a buy a nice 'sorry we can't make it ' card, sign it and send it. End of

Just reply unfortunately you wont be able to attend.

You don't have to give a detailed explanation, just keep it simple and send a decline

In best Mumsnet fashion, it's an invitation, not a summons!

Dear x,

Thank you for the invitation to your wedding reception

Unfortunately I will be unable to attend, but hope you have a wonderful day and I look forward to seeing the photos

I would just RSVP no like your sister has done. Since you weren't invited to the ceremony she's probably not that bothered if you don't attend. And I wouldn't want to go either since you've said you have a very big family and everyone's invited except you and your sister.
