To throw teddies or not

This is a bit of fun....
My sister and I have been talking this evening about what we do with our children's teddies when they get to a point where there's far too many to even store in their rooms let alone display them!

My sister called them dust collectors and said she throws them in the bin however I said that the teddies totally have feelings and you can't possibly throw them away, I put them in the loft and keep them or pass them onto the charity shops.
Obviously the most meaningful ones are kept regardless for both of us but I couldn't possibly throw them and see their little faces looking up at me from the bin 😆🤣

Haha... obviously this is just lighthearted fun and we are curious as to what others do with their children's ever growing and unwanted collections of stuffed toys!

Is my sister unreasonable for throwing the poor souls in the bin or not?

I wild halve my kids toys at any one time and they never noticed! In the bin bye bye creepy dolls/teddies

There is a special corner of hell for those who put teddies in the bin.
👿 👿 👿

There are plenty of places come Christmas asking for donations of toys for children who otherwise wouldn't get any presents. If they're in good condition that's where they go.

We give the ones that dd doesn't want at all to the dog. She loves them so they get a second life.

We have a vacuum storage bag in the loft too, full of toys with the air sucked out.

FayeGovan · 24/07/2022 22:09

Don't bin them, one day you'll find them when your kids are up and gone and you'll cry 😪

NuffSaidSam · 24/07/2022 22:12

Your sister is a monster.

Has she not seen Toy Story? Or read 'The Bear that Nobody Wanted'?

doodlejump1980 · 24/07/2022 22:14

There’s a bean bag cover you can buy. Fill with all the soft toys. Instant bean bag without the annoying polystyrene beads!

Goldbar · 24/07/2022 22:37

I have a complete family ban on any teddies/soft toys being given as presents to avoid this dilemma after accumulating 30-40 of the fuckers in DC's first year. DC receives one new soft toy a year and that's it. The collection fits neatly into one of those stuffable beanbags.

I'm not sure I could put a soft toy in the bin...I'd feel it haunting me. So I'd give them away/rehome them if I had to.

Agreed. I'd keep a close eye on her from now on OP. 👀

Donate. No child needs hundreds of soft toys. Keep favourites and give another child the chance of enjoying the ones yours don’t.

blueysmumchilli · 25/07/2022 08:45

Oh I could never bin them, DD now has teddies that we're mine at her age!
We keep the meaningful ones and I donate the others when DD isn't looking .

notforonesecond · 25/07/2022 09:09

My mum still has some of my old ones in her loft and I’m 35.

I told her she can donate them as long as she doesn’t make me go through them. I can’t look them in the eye.
