House of Fraser Refunds

Is it just me, or does this seem a bit unreasonable? Bought some clothing from House of Fraser (all the changing rooms were closed so I couldn’t try them on). Took them home to try on, but they didn’t fit. Went back to House of Fraser but they refused to refund, would only offer a credit note… apparently they have changed their returns policy 🤷‍♀️ I feel like they should have at least told me at the point of purchase. Is this unreasonable of them?

They've been bought over by the Sports Direct people so they have definitely gone downhill.

FayeGovan · 24/07/2022 18:19

There are signs at the till saying this. Hope you didn't take it out on the staff.

Fizzgigg · 24/07/2022 18:29

Yeah it's the Sports Direct policy, which has always been a nightmare, being applied in HoF now that they've been bought by them.

Bitwornout · 24/07/2022 18:35

They sent me completely the wrong thing and made the returns process so rage inducing that after 4 weeks I gave up and will never buy from them again. No phone number, only email, endless idiotic requests for more and more detailed photos of the item, three emails telling me my complaint was sorted. Look on Trust pilot and never use them again.

Amazongirl9 · 24/07/2022 18:51

It's the reason I don't shop there any more. Definitely gone downhill. We have a local House of Fraser, so wish that it was John Lewis.

Halstead · 24/07/2022 18:52

Blame Sports Direct. HoF’s return policy was pretty generous before they took over.

No, there were no signs on till.

Nope 🤣 I avoid confrontation like the plague. Nodded my little head and went on my way. Now I’m puzzled and wondering if this has always been their policy and I’m behind the times 🤷‍♀️But seems from other posters that it’s a Sports Direct thing.

Go back to the store, take photos and argue you couldn't possibly have known?

sleezeandwineparty · 25/07/2022 01:33

Sorry about your issue but thanks for the heads up. I can avoid. I think when using sports direct you can kind of excuse the shitty customer service but when it's HOF then I expect more.

Ggu · 25/07/2022 06:37

It is awful business but retailers don't have to let you take stuff back unless it's faulty.

MacaroniBaloney · 25/07/2022 07:44

The returns policy will be on the receipt.
