Fuck I’ve ran out of pants

Pinkwaterbortle · 24/07/2022 15:22

Not even a troll. I’m with my ds in hospital. I packed enough pants I thought but my period has flooded 3 times. It’s 330 on a Sunday. I can’t get out of the hospital, we drove 4 hours to be here so no family or friends nearby. I feel like a absolute pleb telling the nurses I’ve ran out of pants. I just want to cry. I need a shower I’m covered in blood from helping with my ds bed bath and I’m so bloody upset.

Ask the nurses to give you some disposable ones, and order more on Amazon?

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 24/07/2022 15:23

Tell the nurses FGS.

Palmtree9 · 24/07/2022 15:24

The nurses will be supportive, they will find you something to get you through. Guarantee they'll have experienced this before, and will do again x

Pinkwaterbortle · 24/07/2022 15:25

It’s a childrens hospital. They wouldn’t stock adult women pants would they?

BigChesterDraws · 24/07/2022 15:25

If you’re in a hospital they should have some pads. But in the meantime ask if they have spare knickers. They will have heard more unusual requests.

Pinkwaterbortle · 24/07/2022 15:25

thanks for the support. Fgs

JohnsShirt · 24/07/2022 15:26

Amazon.
In the meantime tell the nurses, to see if they can help.
Does the hospital have a shop for pads at least?

Goodnewsday · 24/07/2022 15:26

You could put a pad on so it’s like a fresh pair? Not ideal but better than nothing and a lot of hospital toilets have them in them

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/07/2022 15:27

The nurses will likely have spares on the ward
Is there a hospital shop? They often stock items like g this and Sanitary products too
Don't be embarrassed to ask,

Children's hospitals go up to age 16, so yes, it's possible they have sanitary wear.

TeapotTitties · 24/07/2022 15:28

Rinse a pair out and dry them under the hand dryer in the toilet.

Insidelaurashead · 24/07/2022 15:28

Oh OP, this is one of those situations that feels like a massive deal for you because of where you are and what's going on but I promise you the nurses won't want to think of you sat there upset and struggling. Please tell one of them and ask if she can help in any way, I bet she will think of something.

JohnsShirt · 24/07/2022 15:30

Actually it might be 18, but Dd was admitted to adult hospital age 17 here in Scotland.

Turnfacethenamechange · 24/07/2022 15:34

Yes, children’s hospital will cover teens, they’re bound to have something to fit you. If not, agree with washing a pair and drying on hand-dryer. And buy some on Amazon and get them delivered to reception. Sending hugs OP xx

Pinkwaterbortle · 24/07/2022 15:45

Thank you. I didn’t think about Amazon. I will have a look and ask them tomorrow. I’ll ask a nurse if I pop out. The shop has shut and only sells pads. I’m so embarrassed and tired. Ds is not great and it’s all too much.

I work in a childrens’ hospital. We have access to spares for parents and carers. Ask one of the auxiliaries as they know where everything is kept in the entire building! We have pants, pjs, toiletries including sanitary items. And A&E or theatres will have paper pants as a last resort.
Don’t be embarrassed and don’t feel you have to explain what happened - people run out or forget things all the time.
Hope DS is ok

oakleaffy · 24/07/2022 15:54

@Pinkwaterbortle
What a complete bummer..
Have you anyone at home who can bring you some ??
Otherwise, I'd tell the Nurses, they will surely be sympathetic.

Best of luck.

That's so good to know.

CbaThinkingOfAUsername · 24/07/2022 15:56

Please don't be embarrassed to ask the nurses. I'm a nurse and honestly, it would be as insignificant to me as someone asking for a jug of water or box of tissues. I wouldn't think anything of it, I'd just get you what I could find.

I hope your ds is OK.

Divebar2021 · 24/07/2022 16:00

Sorry I can’t give you a big hug ( I can’t find the flower emoji for you…. Apparently I can post an emoji or a camel and a poodle 🐪🐩). All the best.

notapizzaeater · 24/07/2022 16:02

I'd hand wash and dry with the hand dryer. I'm sure the nurses will help, if I was a local nurse I'd grab you some on the way home

Motnight · 24/07/2022 16:06

Please talk to the nurses. Op. You sound as though you are having a horrible enough time at the moment. Xx

JohnsShirt · 24/07/2022 16:06

Do you feel comfortable saying which hospital?
I know I'd pop to Asda/Primark to grab you some pants and bring them up if you were near me?
Or even the general region?

Sorry but this made me smile Smile here's some flowers on behalf of me and @Divebar2021 Flowers

OP don't be embarrassed, and don't suffer. The nurses will help you and not judge, we've all been there.
