to be traumatised by strip search

this sounds so stupid when put in writing but the anxiety is keeping me awake at night :(( i was strip searched last week in iceland and what should have been a fun family trip was ruined and i haven't been myself since. very invasive and i feel like a common criminal.

i bought a bottle of a black opium flanker by accident which i didn't want but was the same price as the regular black opium. on the way out i put the bottle i bought but didn't want back on the shelf and took a bottle of the regular one instead x

Did they find the perfume on you? If not why did they think you had it?

But why did they strip search you to find the bottle, when you had presumably just handed it over with an explanation, showed your receipt etc?

That was a crazy thing to do! You should have taken both bottles to the register with your receipt and asked to swap.

The strip sesrch is awful though. I would have expected them to check your bag and perhaps pat you down. Is that an Icelandic thing???? I would feel completely violated if that happened to me and would certainly not forget it in a hurry.

Well then they were justified. You don't just swap a product. You need to take it back and officially exchange it. You would have absolutely looked like a shoplifter

I don't understand the circumstances. They saw you take a bottle and drop it in your bag. They approached you and you explained what had happened, showed them the bottle, showed them the receipt. Did they think you had a second bottle?

That's bonkers . You could have just taken the original bottle yku didn't want to the counter and asked to swap .

Something not adding up here I'm afraid. You aren't telling the full story .

This exactly. Strip searches don't happen for a suspected shoplifting offence!

What a stupid thing to do. I’m struggling to believe you did that. You wouldn’t do that in Tesco, you’d go to customer services or back to the cash so why the hell you you do that in an airport where there’s security everywhere. Bonkers.
