To ask you to name this dish?

I've put all the following ingredients in the slow cooker just randomly based on ingredients we had in.

Is this close to an already existing dish and if so, what is it called or what would you call it?

Chicken thigh
Tinned chopped tomatoes
Carrots, broccoli, string beans, green beans and leaks
Mushrooms
Garlic
Basil and thyme
Salt, pepper, mild curry powder, paprika, cumin

Name that dish?!

Is it chicken stew?
Chicken and veg curry?
Tomato, chicken and veg bake?

Chicken Surprise.

emmathedilemma · 22/07/2022 12:13

Chicken surprise! particularly if you don't measure out the ingredients, it'll be slightly different every time.

Antarcticant · 22/07/2022 12:14

Spicy chicken casserole

StrangeCondition · 22/07/2022 12:14

Well it's not a tray bake as it isn't in a tray and you're not baking it, I wouldn't call it a stew as they wouldn't be the ingredients I'd make a stew from, same for the curry.

I'd call it 'something I chucked together with chicken, veg and some herbs/spices'

TheodoreMortlock · 22/07/2022 12:21

I'd call that slow cooker chicken, because I am blessed with an abundance of imagination like that.

KangarooKenny · 22/07/2022 12:28

I call everything sausage surprise. The surprise is that there’s no sausage !

WendellGeez · 22/07/2022 12:29

😂 definitely stealing this next time my DH asks what's for tea

LoobyDop · 22/07/2022 12:30

No offence, but it sounds like what Americans would call a hot mess. Leeks with curry powder?!

None taken. I have no idea how this is going to turn out. It wasn't copious amounts of seasoning, just a sprinkling for a bit of flavour.

I guess also what would you serve it with?

In a bowl with crusty bread, rice, chips?

WinterMusings · 22/07/2022 12:33

I think you've put in too many very different ingredients for it to resemble a known dish.

I would have chosen one direction or another.

see how it tastes before you decide it's worthy of a name!! What are you serving it with?

but yes, it's clearly not a bake is it!! 🤣🤣

Yes

Oh,you mean which of those??

Chips & crusty bread!! If all else fails you have chips & bread!! Yum!!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 22/07/2022 12:37

I would serve it with a phone and a takeaway menu on the side, personally Grin

iklboo · 22/07/2022 12:37

I'm thinking the rest of the family will be hoping the same and I imagine I'll be having it for lunch in small frozen portions over the coming weeks!

Well a curry with a tomato-based sauce is usually a Bhuna so maybe call it chicken and vegetable bhuna.

Poppins2016 · 22/07/2022 12:42

A spiced stew?

My thoughts as follows:

A casserole is made in the oven.

A stew is made in a pan (or slow cooker).

A bake is made in the oven (and would be a thicker consistency, perhaps with a topping, e.g. cheese or crispy skin).

RoundaboutRacer · 22/07/2022 12:43

I always like to throw in an "a la" if making up a name.

Chicken a la

Then throw on another French word.

Leek is poireau

So Chicken a la Poireau

Yes it makes no sense but it sure sounds amusing!

FelicityBeedle · 22/07/2022 12:44

Chicken and the rest.

sounds quite nice

HelebethH · 22/07/2022 12:52

Pot luck

caringcarer · 22/07/2022 13:09

Spicy chicken and vegetable stew would do I think. Gives ester a good idea of what to expect.

peachgreen · 22/07/2022 13:41

Curry powder and paprika and cumin and basil and thyme?! I can see so many combinations of those working (basil and paprika is one of my favourites!) but all of them together?

I'm... equal parts horrified and curious. Please let us know what it's like!

Why not, just a very mild onion?
