Should we renegotiate sale price…

We are in the process of buying. Our solicitor has discovered that the council (FHs) are planning on doing works to the property over the next 5 years which will cost £10k per flat. The sellers have stated on the paperwork that they are not aware of any planned works which I think is BS. Are we reasonable to ask for money off, perhaps £5k? Or should we suck it up, this is the life of a leaseholder??

No harm in asking. It's quite common after a survey to request a price reduction based on the information you're given so I don't see why this would be any different.

Just prepare yourself if they say no to reducing the price and whether you really want it and can afford £10k for improvements, particularly with cost of living and interest rates rising. Have you asked the FHs if current owners were notified and when? I'd be concerned if they've hidden this then what else have they been shady about.
