To worry about this in sons ear

DS (3) had a burst ear drum a few months ago. A few days ago when in the bath I briefly noticed that his ear looked blocked so the next morning I tried to use a torch and have a closer look (didn't put anything in the ear!) and I can see what looks like a big black scab in there. What could it be?

I would speak to your GP, my son had a cholesteatoma after an ear infection where his eardrum burst and left untreated they can cause permanent hearing loss.

Thanks, I will make an appt tomorrow. Did your son have any symptoms or was it just found when the dr checked his ear?

It was found when they checked his ear, he had no symptoms.

He is 30 now so it was a while ago but I remember he had surgery to remove it and kit has caused no long term problems.

I would imagine a very dark plug of wax or dried blood or perhaps a mixture. Better to get checked though.
