Why has this summer been SO windy?

I hate windy weather, it wrecks my garden, brings dust and pollen into the house and generally makes me very angry and in a foul mood. It even makes all the washing on the line bunch up and crease whatever pegs I use 😡
I’ve never known a year like it, it just seems to be windy all the time?
North Midlands btw, nowhere near the coast.

Was it windy the last couple of days too? Could have pinched a bit, we were in desperate need down here on the south coast.

But on the plus side, it dries your washing quicker (get tighter/grippier pegs), pollinates your plants better and provides a cooling breeze.

Tbh, I haven't noticed it being that much windier than normal in the South Midlands

I said the same thing yesterday, despite it being very hot is was very windy,Same today as well.

East Mids and haven’t noticed it either. I like wind though, it’s often cooling (I mean the fan heater blasting type wind yesterday wasn’t like) and means I can get more washing done.

Yes I had to go and rescue our gazebo yesterday. I put it up for a bit of shade but it was threatening to take off despite being weighted down.

I think it has got windier over the last few years. I too dislike the wind and we now seem to have v few days without it. I wonder if it is because we have more extremes of weather? I have have to say that I was grateful for the wind through the heatwave, it made things bareable.

My weather app says 16mph with 25mph gusts atm yet the tree is my front garden is whipping around, it’s not even very cool, living room is still 24• I can’t have my upstairs windows wide open as all the doors keep slamming shut.

Is it too much to ask for 20-22 degrees, slightly overcast (I hate bright sunshine as well) and non windy weather? I know IABU but I want to get out in the garden 😡
