To ask how much you paid for a loft conversion?

Thinking of getting a loft conversion with full building regs. It's currently just a hatch and isn't boarded. We would get a dormer but not an en-suite. Does anyone know the approximate cost? We are South East England.

I think we paid around £33-34 grand in 2015. Also SE but coastal.

Depends how large the area is

We just had ours done and paid £50,000 in Greater London (Victorian terrace) We probably could have got it a bit cheaper, but we used a company who literally sorted out everything, from survey to final building regs sign off.

A relative got theirs done before the first lockdown and paid £43,000, to give you an idea of how prices have increased.

We had a loft conversion on our Victorian 2 bed terrace. No en-suite. The whole thing (incl .planning, building regs etc) was 43,000 last summer.

Ours was 70k last year. This included the plans.

it did NOT include….

  • changing of all internal doors to meet building reg requirements.
  • glass in the bannister
  • an ensuite
  • a hand rail
  • skirting boards
it was left as a plastered shell.

Ours is being built as we speak (SW London). It is £60k + VAT but that also includes lowering of ceilings on the 1st floor to accommodate head height in loft and refurb of main bathroom. We booked that last Nov and I know his prices have gone up since. As pp have said, we are using a company that has done everything from start to finish.

Unicorn2022 · 20/07/2022 19:05

Ours is being done at the moment - had to wait over a year for this company to be available. It's costing £56k in East London which includes fitting of an en suite but not the suite itself. It doesn't cost much more to add a bathroom.

Two bedrooms for us children. £999 in 1962. LOL

£50k all in ... one sided dormer with ensuite. The ensuite was only 3k extra.
