To think it's irresponsible of the school to go ahead with this?

Our DCs primary school have a theatre company in for an outside show later today, when, according to the weather forecast it will still be 38°. They have the option to do it in inside but have decided to go ahead with the outdoor show so that parents can attend.

The show is only for KS2 so those of us with KS1 children will have to hang around with our DCs for 20 minutes after the show until the end of school as it's 'unfair' to only let a few KS1 students out.

AIBU to think that they should just do the show inside and let the KS2 students out at the usual time or at least let us take all of our children home?

Stupid idea! I wouldn't let my child stay out in this for a prolonged period and I wouldn't be watching the show, and be picking my child up early to go home.

My child is finishing at lunch as their school closes at 1.30 during this heat.

Yeah that's stupid. I think I would just collect my child and leave too.

They have now sent a messege saying that they have found a nice shaded place for the show, but it is unsuitable for sitting on, so parents will have to bring garden chairs and an umbrella as space in the shade is limited. I don't drive, so I have to walk and carry garden chairs in this heat. Are the school on glue!?

If you say you're collecting your child as normal they won't stop you. You can decide its not feasible for you. I'm not sure why it needs to be one Suze fits all. The school are making plans on the hoof, they will realise not everyone can be flexible.

Thanks everyone, I took both dcs home before the show started. Head teacher didn't have a problem with it and I wasn't the only parent to do it.
