To worry about having little work at work?

I started a new job a few months ago. I was so excited and thought this is a great career move!

But... I have hardly any work to do in an average day. Some days I barely write two emails. When I am asked to do something I can do it in about 10 minutes and then there is nothing else to do for hours.

No one else in the team has the same job as me, so I'm unsure how busy others are compared to me. My job is paid quite well so I feel vulnerable to redundancy, especially as I'm still in my probation period.

I'm not sure what to do - if I speak up I'm highlighting the fact my role doesn't have much to do. My line manager is a general manager whereas my role is slightly skilled, so they can't evaluate my performance apart from the fact I get the job done IYSWIM.

Any advice?? Help.

I would ask your Line manager for feedback - if they're happy with what you've done you know the role is quite limited, in which case I'd say you don't feel challenged and is there more you can take on, OR they might bring up that they feel you're not pushing yourself in which case you can ask for advice on how to do that
