Aibu to wonder what to do about wage

Hi,

So I was paid on Friday. A few days before I received my payslip to see that work had messed up my pay and taken a huge deduction. This is because I'd moved departments and they had messed up some codes or something on the system. They also deducted a further smaller amount in error. All in I was down about £600. I work part time.

I have recently had to use my savings for something unexpected so I am trying to build that up again.

All my bills are set around pay day. While I obviously have money left over to last me the month and I do share all finances with dh it has left me very short until he gets paid in 2 weeks. I need fuel for work etc and im left so short now that il struggle because now bills have come out I have had to use fuel money and disposable income for them. Id normally use the £600 for fuel, kids stuff and anything else needed until dh gets paid.

I have raised this all last week with work and they said they will reimburse me next month. I said no way. They have yet to respond further despite me and my manager chasing it.
Even if they do a bacs by the time they respond it could be end of the week or next week. I really need that money now when I expected it becauseI have extras to pay this month that i had budgeted for such a dds birthday, which is next week and I still need to get gifts and food. I just don't know what to do. Me and my manager have escalated this but still nothing. £600 is alot of money.

Aibu to not know what to do now.

That's really crap. Who has it been escalated to?

QueenoftheNimbleFlyingCat · 18/07/2022 14:28

Get your manager to chase again, I would also chase and if they say again that you will be paid in next month's wage packet tell them you will suffer financial detriment and you will raise a grievance of this is not resolved ASAP. They can do a CHAPS payment which is same day. Do not be fobbed off!

Its been escalated to the Head of HR and payroll but they have not responded.

Most people will probably think its crazy to rely on £600 but I work part time as a carer o top so money is tight right now. Plus like I said its dds birthday which is costing extra this month.

I have been left in limbo with people just ignoring my pleas.

I have chases twice today already. I emailed, as did my manager and phoned but had no response..
