Always having to juggle work and childcare

Rant needed.
I work part time in a busy office job, DH is self employed and therefore gets no pay when off. We seem to be getting every illness under the sun at the moment, viral infections, sickness bugs and now chicken pox. DH goes to work as normal as he says he can’t afford to take time off, in the last month alone I’ve had at least 3 days where I’ve needed to be off to look after sick kids. AIBU to expect some more equality? DH argument is that he pays all the bills and if I was the higher earner he’d take time off. I pay for childcare and all bits kids need.
Today he said he’d work half a day (he works outside) due to the heat mainly and I made arrangements around this, being that it’s so hot today (picking DS up from school at lunch) and have poorly DD at home for half the day. Have just spoken and he’s said he’s going to see how he gets on… so basically not a half day as agreed. Starting to think I’m the problem here with my unrealistic expectations? He has said I should just quit my job/ go and work somewhere evenings and weekends.
