Monkey pox or mosquito bites?!

ImFuminHun · 18/07/2022 07:00

My son has been really unwell recently, headache, extreme tiredness, muscle pain, swollen glands.

All the signs of monkey pox and is also all the signs of a common or garden virus.

Now 5-6 days later he has enormous itchy spots.

He thinks mosquito bites but I suddenly woke up at 3am thinking fuck - monkey pox?

He does regularly go to a city where there are outbreaks, but never really thought it was a risk.

It's difficult to see because I've made it so big to hide his identity.

Hi I'm not a medical person but they look like mozzie bites probably best to ask the chemist for some antihistamines Flowers

Looks like a gnat bite or heat spot to me. Aren’t monkey pox spots like blisters?

Notnowbarnaby · 18/07/2022 07:08

They don’t look like the monkey pox spots to me. If you Google you can see a progression of the MP rash and it starts almost with a pimple looking spot and then changes - not red patches like your son has

How old is he? Unless there's a chance he's engaging in unprotected sex with men then the chances of it being monkeypox are incredibly low!

ImFuminHun · 18/07/2022 07:13

Ok that's exactly what I needed to hear!! Mozzie bites!

the relief to hear someone else say it

There's more, these ones are older than the one I posted before.

But still mozzie bites, aren't they?
Hes never been bitten like this before.

But I have friends who get bitten head to toe so I know it's very possible.

Way more possible that monkey pox?!
