Neighbours putting bin on road to save parking space

We live in a residential Parking area.
Our next door but one neighbours have a car plus their 3 adult sons have cars. Also our next door but one neighbours brother who lives across the road has a cars but prefers to park outside our next-door but 1 neighbours house as he spends most of their time there.
Anyway they all park their cars on the street. When they are not home they save their space with a wheelie bin in the road when I move the bin off the road one or orher of the kids (not always the adult ones) comes out from nowhere and starts shouting and swearing at me. They do the same to our neighbours too. I've complained to the council and they said it isnt on and they would write to them bit not mention us by name. It seems to have had no affect.
As tomorrow will be 2 week since I rang the council I'm ringing again tomorrow. Am I being unreasonable to be fed up of it night after night and to want it to stop.

Does it stop you being able to park your car or are you just getting a bee in your bonnet about it? Sometimes, life’s too short for petty squabbles.

I would presume so seeing as OP has attempted to move the bin in the past

Nomoreminecraftplease · 18/07/2022 11:53

It does sometimes stops us from parking yes. That's when we move the bin. We also move it for our lovely neighbour. And vice versa. But I'm getting reluctant to because of the aggression and shouting it's causes. I hate it

I rang the council they're going to send a refuse education officer round to have a word with them about it

Film them shouting and swearing and report them for threatening behaviour.

Lifeisrelentless · 18/07/2022 12:32

We have someone further down our road who does exactly the same. And gets aggressive if people bring it up; and said she will continue doing it “as she doesn’t like people parking outside her house; it’s a lack of respect” despite the fact it’s a public road and she doesn’t own the road outside her house! It doesn’t actually affect me, but I do often think how cheeky it is!

My council would write to the offending neighbours as a warning and if it continued to happen they would take the bin away and make them use sacks for their waste. It happens occasionally around here but the letter seems to do the trick.

Its their brown bin so its just for garden waste. They never ever use it. They keep it in their front garden for the sake purpose of putting it on the road

*sole purpose

If its the big black wheelie bins, they are very expensive to replace if damaged or lost. Hoodies make it very difficult to identify someone too

Hmmm I won't go that far that isn't me lol! 😎

I’d get out of my car, move the bin and park there.

Someone on my street used to do it. They stopped eventually.

FixTheBone · 18/07/2022 18:56

I'd go beyond passive aggressive I think, move it out of the way, fill it three quarters with water, and the rest with postcrete.

LookItsMeAgain · 18/07/2022 19:10

Ok - I'll do it people ....

Parking thread must have a diagram.

Until one is included YABU.

Its a road. A standard regular straight road. Any resident can park on it no-one has more parking rights to it. Nothing special

I can post photos of the bin and the road but I'm not sure that would be allowed or not

This is not on at all. I have neighbours who do this when they have builders coming or similar and that seems fair enough- obviously strictly you should do it officially but that's a faff for everyone. But just for ordinary parking it's completely out of order.

StoneofDestiny · 18/07/2022 19:43

Your neighbours are ridiculous - what if everybody put bins out to save places for their cars!

Nomoreminecraftplease · 18/07/2022 21:34

I agree

One of my family members neighbours does this. I move them out the way and park there. I have had her mouth off to me once so I asked her to point out where her name was on the road and also in the deeds to her house. Until she does that, I'm parking there. No one has the right to claim road space as their own. I'd film them if they're abusive and report.

Nomoreminecraftplease · 19/07/2022 08:52

I've just made tthe daily mirror. And for the record there's just one bin. Not all the cars come back at the same time so they move the bin up and down street till all cars are back! This taking up spaces outside several of their neighbours. The bin that is

Fuck that! Just keep moving the things, on our road we park outside our own houses if we do t have a drive, and it's kind of an unwritten rule you get the odd twat visiting etc but generally no issues.....no one woukd have the cheek to do that round here. I think your neighbours are slightly unhinged and it's fucking selfish as they have multiple cars.
