Im with SSE Topped up £40 pounds gas and electricity so £20 on each on 25th of June.. And I still have £10 left on my balance
This is my first time living away from home so just wondering if this is normal
I live alone in a one bed flat

sounds like it could be ok, small flat, one person! It is summer after all

That's what I thought but just wanted to be sure.. Have a relative that also loves alone in a one bed and he's paying 140 a month so I was just worried something was off with mine

They may be paying off a debt to the energy provider. Eg. They may top up £40 , but £10 goes to historic debt and £30 for current usage.

yeah also I guess if youre on a meter you're less likely to be paying an average amount over the year (I pay £160 per month because it covers me for winter when colder as it evens up over the year). but you can't do that (I assume ?) so I guess it's cheaper now but potentially a lot more in winter per month. Might be worth putting extra aside now.

Sounds about right. I'm spending about 25 a month atm but don't forget it will go up massively in the winter (doesnt average out like on a direct debit plan which you may have had with your parents)
The most I spent over last winter was 70 a month.
I'm not sure how your relative is paying 140. Have they got a debt they are paying maybe. If not they need to look into it with their supplier.
