AIBU loud music

Neighbours playing loud music in the shared garden all day. I understand legally there’s nothing I can do and I don’t have problems with them otherwise, but my blood is boiling. This music is imposed on me, I have no chance of escaping it, have no chance to sleep or relax because it’s everywhere for hours on end every Saturday and Sunday now. I just want to have a nap after a difficult week. I do love music too, and use my headphones or earphones. This way it doesn’t hurt anyone. I also understand music in bars, pubs, public beaches etc etc. But home is home and I’m dreading being forced to suffer through their choices all summer. People like this only think about themselves, have no consideration for others. Anyone in the same situation? How are you coping?

Just ask them to turn it down a little

girlmom21 · 17/07/2022 16:06

Have you spoken to them and asked them to turn it down?

There is something you can do about it. There are no ‘legal’ hours where you can play loud music and be anti social. Look on your council website for Environmental Health or Anti Social Behaviour number. Many have out of hours, some you can email in details but they should get back to you. Also log time, what the noise was and the impact on your and record on your phone every time it happens. Even if the council deem the noise not to be bad or do not witness, they still have the powers too warn your neighbours and fine them if a history of this behaviour is found. Also, get some noise cancelling headphones, the best you can afford.

I currently have it from the 2 sides of me, 2 different music styles so it's just fucking noise. That along with the blood curdling screams from the kids it's making me want to rip my ears off. I have this ALL the time, the scum bag on one side usually plays the music from 8.30am until 6pm but with good weather and brighter evenings it's on until at least 10pm. It's very draining listening to it. Haven't used my garden for years and can't open my windows.

@girlmom21
I have encountered my neighbours having a disagreement with others and there’s not something I’m ready for at the moment. I’m very anxious about open confrontation. They are generally polite to me but can be really verbally aggressive to others and I don’t plan to move so am very cautious.
