To be annoyed if any family member gets drunk or smokes near DC?

I grew up seeing all sorts of stuff, wild parties, chain smoking, parents getting drunk etc. and I feel that’s why I get really protective over my DC. I don’t want them to see the effects of alcohol, don’t wanted them to look at smokers and think it’s ok or cool to smoke. AIBU?

Yes. You can’t hide them from everything and there going to see things. It’s not your job to hide them but to educate them on it and the issues it causes

Depends on the setting and context.

If people have come to visit your house and they are getting drunk and smoking in your home when you’d prefer them not to, then YANBU.

But, if you are visiting family, or at a family/friends get together or party/bbq then you can’t really dictate what others do.
