Vaginal hematoma

Posting for traffic (sorry, I know people get annoyed by this).

Had my 3rd baby over a month ago - standard and speedy vaginal birth. Felt some swelling when standing afterwards and midwife checked me at 2 weeks postpartum and said there was a hematoma. It’s been a few more weeks and the swelling feels a bit worse. Another 2 weeks until my 6 week check with the doctor.

does anyone have any experience of this please? Am I fine to wait 2 weeks to see someone? Have not experienced this before!

No experience, but I wouldn't feel I had to wait to get checked.

Phone 111 if you're in pain or discomfort. I'm guessing you haven't been discharged from your midwife yet so they might be a better bet than your GP on a weekend.

If it's not causing you pain they're not something to worry about.

i have been discharged

it’s a Saturday so no GP and it’s quite hard to get apts that’s why I’m asking - no need to be so unpleasant @Marvellousmadness

Well this is the best forum to ask on for others experience of this and to not feel so alone in your experience.

I hope someone can come along and tell you of their experience of course you need medical advice too

some hang around here to be nasty please ignore them

Phone 111 and they'll get you an OOH GP appointment

I had one after ds1 had to be dragged out. I couldn't sit and was crying with pain. I had to get it drained as the blood was collecting under the skin. Instant relief (although still very sore). I was sent straight in to the hospital after the mw had a look at it and it was done very quickly- home again within an hour.

Things may have changed in recent years, but I was told I could contact the mws up til the 6 week point, even if I'd been discharged. If that's not an option, 111 to see what can be done. It was excruciatingly painful, so you have my sympathy.
