Fed up with cigarette butts

Neibours moved in about 4 months ago live in flats, noticed fag butts on my balcony ignored and swept up in the hope it would stop as I like to keep my balcony nice and tidy. Then I notice a few days later it's happening again. So I knock her door really anxious as I don't know this person, they don't answer but could see them through the glass door walking about so they were clearly ignoring me. I then wrote a note politely asking them to stop. Low and behold it hasn't stopped this morning went out looked like they had tipped a whole ashtray out of there window. Really getting fed up now.
YABU : just clean it up and get on with it.

You are clearly not being unreasonable but I’d find a way to report if if you can

Do you have a building management or a site authority you can report it to? Take pictures, cite dates and times. Don’t give in - they’ll have to feel it (threat of eviction or fine) until they’ll change

I’d pick them up and post them back through the dirty scutters letter box.

Oh they are now goading you ! Are they HA flats can you get the landlord involved before it escalates further, sounds awful

I live in a council flat it's really getting to me now as I feel it's a form of intimidation, also fag butts all outside my bedroom window I mean hundreds of butts. Worried neighbours might think it's me as I live ground floor. I will definitely start taking photos now for proof.

On Monday contact the housing officer as a pp said take pictures of your balcony, don't engage with the neighbours anymore they have made it clear what they think of your note.

Great shout @Annamarieblue the photos will help, as well as finding that contact for your building or council housing officer, whoever it is that can log this and ensure you have a case open about it.

Otherwise it’s left to your ability to coerce someone else to behave differently - and that’s horrendous - you’re probably a very strong and assertive person but even that won’t be enough for irrational pig headed clowns like your neighbours

It's such a shame as the neighbours before them was lovely.. council seem to allow to have shitty people that can just get a council flat. And the decent people can't even get on the list.

Everybody is entitled to a home sadly not Everybody appreciates it !

Thought ill update cigarette butts still on my balcony and pathway looks disgusting, nfs mediation spoke to myself and neighbour. Called council again they said they can't do anything about it, I'm really angry now and fed up anyone got any advice on what I should do next?
