Please help. Covid pass for states

SpiderinaWingMirror · 16/07/2022 09:47

I need to travel ASAP to the States as have had a call that my brother is critically ill. I have NHS covid pass but elderly DM does not. I have applied for it online now. It suggests it could take a week!
Anyone applied for one recently? There doesn't seem to be a work around. How long did it take?

Is she vaccinated? Get the NHS app set up for her and you can get it straight away.

Chemenger · 16/07/2022 10:30

You need proof of vaccination, can you download it as a pdf from the NHS website? I did this yesterday On the NHS Scotland website and uploaded it to the airline system. I would think the rest o the U.K. would have similar? I have it on my phone as well, but you could print it out.

The NHS app I have set up but to get access to the covid record, you have to upload passport, and record her saying some numbers? This is the bit that presumably needs verification.

I didn't upload my passport. Check again you've got the right app. She should be able to get it instantly

All my family have the nhs app and have never had to do this - are you sure you have the right app - it’s blue and says nhs in a white box and is called NHS App? You need your nhs number to log in - it has all yr prescription and other info in it .

SpiderinaWingMirror · 16/07/2022 11:00

Yes, I don't know if its a new thing to stop people accessing other people's records?

No, screenshot the app. You're on the wrong one I think

Booked · 16/07/2022 11:02

You're not trying to access both her and your covid passes from the same app are you? On the same smartphone? You each need your own phone/app

JustDanceAddict · 16/07/2022 11:04

Yes you need passport now for verification - my DS did it recently.

You do need a passport. We have recently done it.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 16/07/2022 11:17

@Bigmouthshouthotair how long did it take?

ididntwanttopostthis · 16/07/2022 11:23

Although it says 7 days, it has never taken more than a few hours to come through for me or any friends/family.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 16/07/2022 11:50

@ididntwanttopostthis could you check, did you get an email acknowledgement of applying?

No i’ve never had an email acknowledgment, just a message on the app saying it can take up to 7 days

Mybeautifulfriend22 · 17/07/2022 09:18

I don’t think it takes 7 days I think that’s more just in case. I got mine a few hours later.

When I got my nhs pass last year I had to show Id and say numbers on video/photo.
it unlocked both domestic and travel passes

However when my partner did it weeks later he didn’t need to show ID but it only shows the domestic pass. He would have to do the showing of ID l to get access to that part.

XmasElf10 · 17/07/2022 09:21

Yes you do need passport and recording of numbers, no it didn’t take 7 days, a few hours for me a couple of weeks back.

Gingerbreadcandle · 17/07/2022 09:59

This happened with my dd, it said it could take 7 days to verify identity before could use the app, in reality it was 4 hours.

When we needed the covid pass for travel a couple of weeks ago I downloaded mine no problem. Went to get DH's, on the same site, and we had to upload his passport. He also had to repeat the numbers, etc. Once he had done that he was able to download straight away and they also, for some reason sent one in the post.

I don't know why it was so different for each of us.

Sorry you are having this extra stress at a difficult time.

Monr0e · 17/07/2022 10:09

I recently had to do the same, upload passport pic and video myself saying some numbers. I was able to get my vovid pass just a few hours later.
