To hope to find something to retrain in part time

I've just returned to work after having my 2 DC and not planning any more.

I work 20 hours a week as a Business Manager for a nursery, and wouldn't want to work many more hours than this as spending time with my children is still very much my priority, at least until they are both at school.

However I am really bored of my job - I have done the same thing for 10 years and I find it quite tedious. There's also quite a few things about the organisation's culture that I'm not enjoying.

I would really love to find a career that I'm passionate about, but something that I can retrain in part time. I don't have anything particular in mind but I would say my main strengths are my caring nature/people skills and good attention to detail.

AIBU or unrealistic to hope for this? I've done some basic research and can't find many options if I'm looking for part time.

Watching because I feel the same. I'd love to have a career that fulfilled me but I'm not particularly good at anything!

I've just started retraining after being a secondary teacher for years, I'm now disabled and need something a bit more sitting down!

I've started my diploma in counselling and psychotherapy and it will take 2 years pt to train, and then I can work for myself or for an organisation hopefully part time hours around when I feel well enough (I'm good in the mornings but feel rubbish in the afternoon). I'd like to work with addictions in the end. My dc are all left school now.

Just my experience, hope you find something!

Also watching, I’m in the same boat - work 20 hours but no job satisfaction. Retirement about 40 years away!! Would love to retrain as a nurse but have 2 small children, nursery fees and a mortgage so can’t see how I’d ever do it! At least for a good few years So posting here so I can see the replies!

999 call handler. Ambulance or Police. Training may be FT for a number of weeks but very flexible after. Interesting. Good employee benefits.

This is something that really interests me! Is it an area that you've worked in personally?
