Free stuff on fb

I’m on a freecycle group on facebook for my area, over 20k people in so there’s multiple items a day. Most people leave stuff in their front garden and say no holding, just come and get it And put their address on the post. Is the etiquette for this to knock on their door to say thank you or to just take it and leave them be? Because if I was giving away a shed full of free stuff id rather people just take it and go than to be knocking on my door every 5 minutes, but I feel like if I don’t say thank you it’s just rude. WWYD

YABU - knock on the door and say thanks
YANBU - take it and leave

If they have specially asked to just take and leave them I defo would... then maybe send them a fb message to say thank you if I felt guilty?

If it was specified then I'm defo one to say thank you then leave

I'd take it so not to bother them and send them a thank you message.

^ this.
If I've left it outside its because I'm busy / the baby is napping etc. A message to say, "got it, thank you" is always appreciated though.

Sorry the last bit was if it wasn't specified I would of course say thank you*

girlmom21 · 15/07/2022 18:39

Yeah if I'm leaving it outside it's because I want it gone and don't want to have to deal with strangers

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 15/07/2022 18:40

I picked up some free stuff once that I’d arranged to collect. I messaged them once I’d picked it up to say collected, thanks very much. Just so they knew I’d got it. Just thought it was courteous.

Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 15/07/2022 18:41

Take it and leave them send a message to say you've collected and thankyou

BiscoffSundae · 15/07/2022 18:44

The fact they’ve put it outside suggests they don’t want you to knock

whereamu · 15/07/2022 18:45

Don't knock!
Message on fb to say thanks
