neighbour smoking skunk under our windows

We live in a small terraced house. Our next door neighbour is seldom seen but his large dog is cared for by a woman who describes herself as his dog sitter.

She's there all day & spends a lot of time - from about 11 am to after midnight - sitting on the back doorstep smoking weed & coughing her lungs out.

It is extremely smelly and fills our small house with the reek of skunk, especially in this weather when we need the windows open. Her windows are always closed.

Please don't suggest airsprays - I have damaged lungs with asbestos plaques in the lung lining: I can't even light a scented candle without getting a lung irritation. I can no longer burn cuttings on the allotment for that reason.

I'm relaxed about recreational drugs but object to the house stinking like a cat with a kidney infection night & day.

This sounds awful. Is there any way of getting hold of the neighbour?

I think you can only ask her to move a bit further down the garden & explain the smoke comes up into your house

she might be reasonable…

Have you asked her to move away from the house?

I would be investing in a sprinkler system to encourage her to move down garden.

Just got new neighbours who smoke weed and l can't bear it. It absolutely stinks.

My NDN exactly the same. I use sprays, plug ins and scented candles. They don't help. I've mentioned to him I can smell it out the back of the house, he didn't even acknowledge but did go from smoking outside to inside but with the back door open. I still smell it in the garden and in the house when his mates visit and there's more being smoked. Until recently he was growing it too. I don't think her moving to another part of the garden will help, seeing as I can smell it in my garden while he's in the kitchen. It's strong stuff.

Have you told her? Tell her it’s bothering you and ask her to stop. She may stop, or move. If not escalate your response.
