Received this text message yesterday. It's from a regular mobile number. Was in Sainsburys when I got it so not really concentrating. Was expecting several parcels yesterday so thought it genuine and clicked the link... several times as it didn't work or take me anywhere. Forgot about it til this morning....now realise it's a scam 😫. Panicking as been in and out of banking apps yesterday and am scared now to use phone. Didn't enter any sensitive info as link 'didn't work'. Has my phone likely been compromised. Help!

No, I think you're fine. Don't worry!

I clicked on that same text a few months ago, when I was actually expecting a parcel 😡

Touch wood nothing seemed to come of it.

I’m afraid it is a scam, but I don’t know the implications if you haven’t given any details. Someone more knowledgable might be along to help. You could contact Action Fraud to see if they have any knowledge or advice on this particular scam site.

Parcels are delivered by Royal Mail, not the Post Office, and senders don’t give Royal Mail your mobile number, so this couldn’t have been genuine. But they rely on people acting quickly, like you, did while they are distracted by other things in life. A quick Google would probably show this was a scam site. Th best way to guard against these scams is not to react right away but have a think and a Google first. Sorry you had this experience.

Oh. Thank u both...that's reassuring. Sorry it happened to you too @HesterShaw1 . Maybe they've added a duff link....did yours not take you anywhere either?

Change your passwords

CanIbeRio · 14/07/2022 09:47

Thank you @LaFeuilleMorte . I'll be more vigilant in future. I had a look on Royal Mail's website and there is a number to forward fraudulent texts. I'll do that.

This happened to me a few months ago when I, too, was expecting a parcel. I clicked on it, but abandoned the link when it asked for bank details. I was still worried though. Nothing came of it, thank god, but do as a pp suggested and contact Action Fraud just to hand over the number or anything else you have.
One of the best things to do is spread awareness, so thanks for taking the time.

@Amdone123 ...thanks for that. I'm hoping it was after info off me then but as ithe link didn't work, obvs a fail for them. I'm just praying it hasn't planted some sort of spyware or something.

If you're worried about spyware do a factory reset

CanIbeRio · 14/07/2022 10:13

Thanks @girlmom21 ....I'll have a chat with DH when he's in as I'm a techno dinosaur!! I was wondering whether I should do that. It's all very unnerving....so angry....these low lifes cause such stress and upset 😡

Don't worry, nothing comes of it unless you click the link and enter bank details.
