Moving onto same street as relatives

Am I honestly being unreasonable feeling this way? Before I explain I genuinely won't say anything to the party in question as I know people can do as they please, I guess i am just after a little reassurance that my feelings don't make me a complete B.

So my OH sibling has just advised they're buying a house on our small street (in a big city)....5 doors up, we have been here for 15 years and are very settled and this news has floored me I guess we are quite private and it feels like an invasion of my privacy/home life. Would anybody else feel the same way?

Yes that would right peeve me off, not sure what you can do about it though

If they’ve found a house they like and can afford in the current climate, good on them. Would a street over be too close? 5 minutes walk? 5 minutes drive? 10 minutes? You can have a veto on an area.

I’d hate that, but I can’t stand SIL. If she moved 5 doors from me I’d be putting the house up for sale.

What is your relationship like with his family? Would you feel the same if it was your family member?

Katie005 · 13/07/2022 20:35

Absolutely not the area, he has another sibling 3 streets away. I guess it's the 24/7 walking past your door daily level of close thats the issue for me.

Would feel the same if it was any relative either side of the family absolutely. Guess we are more private than we thought (OH feels the same as myself also)
