Compensation rates for historic CSA are an insult. TW

Just listening to Radio 4 and a talk with Slater & Gordon about compensation for victims of child sexual abuse. Given that the impact of CSA is lifelong and affects careers/relationships and the whole path of life basically it's an insult that compensation sums are so low. Currently you can claim 100% of your first injury, 30% of your second and 10% of your 3rd & nothing beyond that. For someone with the most serious injuries, you're looking at only 13k in compensation. Aibu?

I don't necessarily disagree but where would the money come from? CICA is government funded. If someone is murdered I think the max amount is 25k, which isn't enough either. But the money has to be available to make it higher and it isn't.

Sorry, thats 25k to the family.

How on earth are injuries assessed? The trauma is always qualitative (mental/emotional trauma) alongside quantitative (physical injury - if historic may be unknown).
What about loss of earnings due to never reaching potential? It is well documented that victims frequently move from job to job and never achieve anywhere near what they are expected to, this can apply to relationships too - moving from one abuser to another, poor relationships with family etc. The massive impact in all areas of a victims life are not really measurable but safe to say greater than often known.

Under the CICS you can't claim for loss of earnings etc. Only for the actual crimes that were found guilty.

Each crme has a value, ie rape=10k, I believe sexual assault is 3k. But then you only get a % of that.
