To ask for advice re: child's passport

My husband is due to go away with our five-year-old son and we've realised our son's UK passport is close to expiry.

However, my son does have a valid Irish passport he can travel with. My husband only has UK as he's not an Irish citizen.

My question regards passport control. Obviously we don't want my son walking though EU passport control on his own but as my husband only has a UK passport I'm not sure how this would work.

Does anyone have any experience of this or know how we can work around it?

Your son will be able to come with you through the non-EU line.

I have gone through the EU line (abroad) with a UK passport with my DD and DH who have EU passports.

Go through together.

Thanks everyone! That's a relief.
