Covid while on holiday?

I'm on holiday in Italy and have got some covid symptoms. We've got some lateral flow tests with us, but they've been in the full sun in the car since we left the UK a few days ago - will they still be accurate if they've been exposed to very high temperatures? If they will be, I think I should test and isolate if it's positive.

I don't think I should drive home till I test negative (we'll need to break the journey in a hotel) but dp thinks we should avoid testing and just travel home as planned.

Who is BU? I guess it depends on how hot the tests can get before they’re useless, to begin with…

Just act normal. If you feel well enough to travel, do so.

Lateral flows should be stored between 2 and 30 degrees, ideally used at a temp between 15 and 30 degrees (I ran a covid test centre during the main period of covid)

No idea on what result they will give now if they've been over that temp and then come down and used.

Why don't you just buy a test in Italy, you can get them in most big supermarkets ( they are called Tampone here, not to be confused with tampons in English ) and also can be found on Amazon Italia. Pharmacies will perform the test for you, but it will be reported by them to the state, so a mandatory 10 day quarantine will be required if positive.
