Random men shouting abuse

Recently, I passed a guy in the street and he shouted "pissing fucking dyke" at me - youngish bloke - I am 69. I shouted back "What the fuck is wrong with you" and went on my way. Not the most articulate response but I was taken by surprise. Why on earth do strange men shout at women in the street? Its a good thing we don't have guns in this country, I would have happily shot his angry little head off.

They’re normally angry at women because they want to fuck them and can’t.

They are inadequate losers who are clearly so lacking in certain areas that the only way they can feel like a big man is to behave this way. Pitiful creatures, really.

Imagine being so far up yourself that you think a random insult is going to have a devastating effect.

I honestly think it's mental illness of some sort. To hold onto that much hate and direct it at a random stranger — no rational, logical, reasonable mind does that.

They are just bitter angry people.

I ignore anyone that I have not chosen to converse with. Why should I care about the opinions of a stranger on the street. Everyone who sees them is going to think they are weird and rude. Well done though!

Almost certainly either drunk, high on drugs or mental health issues. "Normal" people in fit mind don't do that.

I'm going to save this in my head and have it ready if/when it happens to me....men do it cos they work on the assumption that most woman will just ignore or shout 'fuck off' etc...but my approach is to challenge them....they aren't expecting it and hate it and squirm themselves deeper up their little arses.

I'd say 'what gives you the right to fire insults at me?' 'does it make you feel like a real man....you feeling all big and manly now mate?'....'Ill show you how manly you look to me..' then hold up thumb and forefinger with about an inch between them and say 'this big mate....this is about how manly you look to me....it's about the same size as your dick'

I think a swift challenge is good — assessment of personal safety factored in of course — but I also think your longer response is giving an arsehole too much time and breath, to be quite honest! Why waste the energy, you're just giving them what they want — attention.

Perhaps some of them hate their sisters, mums, aunts and think every woman they meet should pay for whatever wrong the females in their family did or didn't do. Sad little men.

I had two teen lads do this to me recently. They were passing close by so my epithet was right in their faces. They seemed quite shocked.
