DS, 11, was unwell last Tue night/Wed am. Lateral flow neg. Kept him off school Wed. Lat flow neg Thur am. He said he was fine, except for sore throat. Sent him to school. However, we were meant to be away at the weekend visiting vulnerable people - they asked us to do a PCR. We did, Thur am. Came back positive that night.

Kept DS off school Friday and in all weekend. He's fine Now. a slight cough once every few hours.

Lateral flow continuously negative!

Theoretically, I believe we can send him back to school tomorrow - 3 days - but even nore so as I think he had it since last Tue/Wed but the tests didn't show.

Are we being irresponsible sending him back tomorrow?

I would send him in tomorrow if he's feeling ok.

I would send him in too.

My DS caught covid just as the rules about isolation changed to the 3 day for kids rule. I felt really uncomfortable about it as we knew he would still be positive after 3 days but we rang the school and they said to send him in and not to worry. We have to follow the guidance. There is so much of it about at the moment and people aren't really testing anymore (it's not recommended for children now) so your DS won't be the only one in school with covid I'm sure

If he’s negative, send him in.

Maybe just LFT him Monday morning and take it from there. I'm sure if you kept him off Monday and Tuesday as a precautionary and explained to school re covid it'd be fine.
