Stomach bug/Norovirus in this heat

My son (3 years) has picked up a sickness bug and is really unwell, throwing up everything since this morning, can’t even keep water down. Coming out both ends too.
My main concern is dehydration, especially as it’s already so hot here today and due to be overnight too.

What can I do? I’ve tried ice lollies, nothing is staying down. It’s a really nasty one.

I wouldn’t normally be as concerned, but the heat is horrendous here and we don’t have a fan.

Try 5ml of water in a Calpol syringe every 5 minutes. Little and often is the key!

Bless you. Fan would be really good if you could source one even put a post on Facebook I'm sure someone would lend in the situation.
If dc only started being sick this morning you should be OK but definitely call 111 if worried.
Keep blinds/curtains closed. Windows open, cool showers cool baths. Keep trying with ice lollies and fluids little and often.
Hopefully the sickness will slow down op

I believe you can but don’t quote me on it…

Ohsosoft · 10/07/2022 19:38

I wonder how much to put into a lolly mould to freeze it though

Dampen a Muslin or thin t shirt to lay over him whilst the fan blows. That will keep him comfortable. Keep iced water and even if he takes teaspoons of it now and then it will help. If you can minimise him sweating that's going to help so at the very least keep him cool - let him splash in a cool bath / cold flannels over him etc
