To fucking hate basketball?

Some kids are visiting my street and they've been playing basketball outside of my house for over two hours now. All I can hear is the damned ball thumping every two seconds and it's honestly driving me mad.

I live in a village with two play areas, including a massive field/tennis court where they could play but they're using the road behind the house instead.

I'm probably more annoyed than I usually would be because I have some work to do and I can't concentrate because of the noise. Even with good headphones I can still hear it!

(there's no hoops or whatever in the street, so they're just bouncing the fucking ball on the road/wall behind the house. If they went to the field, they could use the tennis courts which do have hoops!)

If kids stay in doors all day playing video games people criticise. If kids make normal kid noise when playing out people complain.

The thumping of balls outside annoys the shit out of me too. I live very close to the city centre but have had a few attempts of kids trying to play footbal or kirby before. The sounds drove me nuts but thankfully traffic put them off in the end (it is a busy throughfare!) so obviously stopping every 30 seconds got the message through. There is a massive park at the end of my road so ample space.

It's not them playing outside, it's the relentless and constantly thumping of the ball. There's masses of space for them to play away from the house too, which I think is making me more frustrated!

As the mother of a former playmaker, I commiserate with knobs on.

(Cross your fingers you never get to meet the agony of the squeak that happens when basketball shoe meets basketball court. It’s like they make it more irritating ear wise on purpose.)

I would like to underline that 10 years of basketball gave my now adult son leadership & life skill practice in abundance. For which I am very grateful. Truly, madly, deeply.

But dear God, it is a very painful on the ears sport.

I'm going to say YABU bc it doesn't sound like they're actually playing basketball. Basketball is great fun to watch (notwithstanding the squeaky shoes).
But the constant thud of the ball outside would try my patience

Yeah, I'm sure basketball is a perfectly wonderful sport.

I'd just prefer that they stop bouncing the fecking ball directly outside of my office window!
