How often do you change paddling pool water

Just that really. Our friends have quite a big one and keep it full for days on end without changing it. By then it's full of grass, bugs and god knows what else. And the kids are still in there swallowing it Envy

Then again emptying and refilling everyday isn't practical either. So what's the standard longevity for paddling pool later these days?

Water not later obviously

Every day- but our paddling pool isn’t out every day- maybe if it was I’d leave it for a couple of days

Huge paddling pool, once a week. I put chlorine tablets in it, cover it at night and its on the decking so doesnt get too much grass in it.

Curlywurlycazza · 08/07/2022 16:17

Oh God you need to change it every day. Ours gets full of grass and sun cream. 🤮. If the kids are toddlers, you know it's also gonna be full of wee.

Unless its filtered and covered. And not full of flies.

It’s not a good idea to have stagnant water around the place that’s not treated (like a proper pool is). It’s. Breeding ground for mosquitoes and one day you will wake up to a pool full of mosquitoes larvae wriggling around in there.

Silverbirch2 · 08/07/2022 16:25

We leave for a day or 2 at most. Weve just bought a filter for it this year.

Depends how much. With a small pool I change every other day. My dad bought a large pool with a filter and now we need chlorine and algaecide and all sorts.

We leave the big pool for up to a week, grass and bugs etc are cleaned out with a net every evening, we use chlorine tablets and it is covered overnight. The smaller pool is 2 days at the most, normally will be emptied every day though.

Aria999 · 08/07/2022 16:37

Every day otherwise the yard would become even more of a mosquito fest than it already likes to be.

This is why we have a smallish paddling pool.

JessicaPeach · 08/07/2022 16:38

All through the summer, we have got a steel framed pool and a good filter, measure the ph, chlorine and all that. It takes quite a lot of time to maintain.

A normal paddling pool definitely not more than a weekend, probably change most days if there's not much in there

Ihatethenewlook · 08/07/2022 16:39

Just a standard sized paddling pool I’d do every 2 days. It does feel a little gross on the second day though. Saying that my children are a bit spoilt in that they prefer the water warm even in hot weather, so even on the second day it gets topped up with loads of fresh water 🙄

Ours is 10ft diameter, 3ft deep. Its treated with chemicals and filtered regularly, plus scooped out and hoovered. Water changed if necessary over the several months its up.
