Kefir Starmer/Angela Rayner cases

AIBU to think that the police investigation of possible rule breaking was a bit long in reporting its findings? The BBC reports: have said

"In a statement, the police said there was "no case to answer" citing an exemption to lockdown rules for "reasonably necessary work".

Seems simple enough. In which case, why didn't they read the rules that same week and tell them that? Instead, it's been months! I wonder why?

I'm not a member of the Labour Party, by the way. But , for god's sake. No wonder the police are overstretched.

Yep.

TerffLonDon · 08/07/2022 13:22

Well precisely because they had to investigate, and find evidence of, whether or not it was a work event, who and how many attended etc.
It doesn’t go,
PC: was it a reasonably necessary work event?’
Keir: Yes officer
PC: Ok 👍

TerffLonDon · 08/07/2022 13:24

Whether or not you think they should have been investigating in the first or not is an entirely different matter, of course.

spanishsummers · 08/07/2022 13:28

It shouldn't take that long to determine it an event was a work event, in my view.

Yummy

I don't think the op has spotted her typo....!

People need to be interviewed & if they name another, that person questioned PLUS in light of the consequences of a "guilty" verdict, everything is checked and double checked again, esp as Starmer may have challenged a guilty verdict in the courts.
Hols season, doubtless added to delays.

Also, the only reason this case was re investigated was due to political pressure to spin the spotlight onto Starmer and off Bojo.

the main thing is Labour leadership did the decent thing and said they would resign if fined, rightly so.

Honaloulou · 08/07/2022 13:36

I've always thought of kefir as highly cultured but a bit bland.

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/07/2022 13:38

There was never a case to answer, but the Tory party needed to create an equivalence for their repeated lawbreaking. It worked. Some people actually believed that 120+ FPNs, was the same as 0 FPNs.🤯😂😂😂

@Honaloulou
I’ll take bland and competent any day. It’s better the charismatic entertainers stick to the entertainment industries rather than trying their hand at trillion pound economies.

I was going to say what Alexandra2001 said re deflecting attention away from Boris.

spanishsummers · 08/07/2022 13:43

And that was a really helpful reply @Alexandra2001

TyrianBannister · 08/07/2022 13:46

Presumably because investigations aren’t as straightforward as you think, lack of resources generally, the need to do everything thoroughly due to the potential implications. Who knows?

spanishsummers · 08/07/2022 13:43

Thankyou, 3 weeks in the sun has made me helpful lol

Zonder · 08/07/2022 13:58

Hopefully the Tories can drop this aspect of their whataboutery now.

tabulahrasa · 08/07/2022 14:02

They’d already said there wasn’t a case, so presumably to go investigate it again they had to be incredibly nit picky and talk to absolutely everyone about every single detail.

Diamond7272 · 08/07/2022 14:08

Bloody hell, he is standing in the corner of a room after working his nuts off all day, chatting endlessly to strangers who he wants to vote for him and like him, and he must have been starving by early evening - as would have been his team - so they had a curry and beer and time to wind down before the bus to a hotel.

There is no music. He looks knackered. Hes not dancing, no music, it must be the most miserable party ever - north korean parties are more cheery hosted by Kim Kong Un.

Boris on the other hand had a birthday party, abba party, and fibbed throughout. Thank god he is going... And i voted tory last election. Wont make that error again but it wasnt because boris was amazing, it was because Corbyn was unelectable

Hopefully the Tories can drop this aspect of their whataboutery now.

Whilst it would be great, they won't.

They love a "dead cat".

Tories will literally do anything and say anything to get away from thier lies, law breaking, immoral, corrupt, and quite frankly, cuntish behaviour.

feedyourheed · 08/07/2022 14:09

It always really bloats me. Think that's the detox effect.

Zonder · 08/07/2022 13:58

Hopefully the Tories can drop this aspect of their whataboutery now.

It will just be this aspect though. The Conservative party are well aware that they have an unthinking flock who'll bleat "Buuuutttt Layyyyburrrr" on command, no matter how ridiculous.🐏

Zonder · 08/07/2022 13:58

Hopefully the Tories can drop this aspect of their whataboutery now.

But they won't!

They'll find as many ways as possible to keep popularity through the "Labour are just as bad" rhetoric because they don't have much left to fight with.

Daily mail ran this story for 10 days.

10 days of stories about a meal with colleagues during the working day.

Johnson and co are gathering for cheese and wine etc at a time we are all lockdown and not even allowed to sit on a park bench - we are supposed to feel sorry for them because they were working hard.

It's pathetic.

@theworldhas - could be wrong but I think @Honaloulou was referring to kefir as per the typo in the title! Genius 🤣🤣🤣

spanishsummers · 08/07/2022 15:32

Still laughing about that myself! 😄😳
