Hmmm... it's a bit hard-going. I skimmed it. It pretty much seems to boil down to both the calories in vs out model and the carbs-insulin model agreeing that the answer is to stop eating "convenient, energy-dense, ultraprocessed foods that are high in portion size, fat, and sugar, and low in protein and fiber" (no shit, Sherlock) but for slightly different reasons and being a bit snarky at each other about the slightly different reasons.

The EBM people sound like they are saying 'Those lying meanie CIM people keep saying we only care about calories and that we don't think it matters at all what kind of foods the calories come from, but it's not true!"
