UC question

Posting for traffic.

My DS will turn 18 in few weeks time. He's got summer job, he works weekends, when school is on. Do I need to declare it to UC?

I asked the question in my journal over a year ago, and got a reply that since he's not claiming UC, they don't need to know his income. But I do get child element for him. Does anyone know for sure?

They will already know his date of birth.

When does he stop full time education? The child element will stop then

GetThatHelmetOn · 07/07/2022 21:09

It will stop on the 31st of August after his 18th birthday if he is finishing his A levels now.

GetThatHelmetOn · 07/07/2022 21:10

If he will still be doing A levels next year, UC will be extended for a year but I am not sure how it works for other courses.

GetThatHelmetOn · 07/07/2022 21:11

If the later us the case you need to let UC know otherwise it will automatically stop this August.

Same applies for Child Benefit

I mean do I need to tell them he's working, not that he's 18.

No if he is still in education it’s irrelevant that he is working.

LilacPoppy · 07/07/2022 23:29

UC finishes when his course does. Only tax credits/child benefit would continue till August.
