Very light hearted....would you bother?

Very light hearted & not causing me any serious issues just curious as to what others think.

I was involved in a project group whether I don't really know the other people. We only met once remotely as the contributions we had to make were very seperate and individual.

Project finished, people very happy with it and got an email earlier in the week to thank us and say their is a little treat left for us to collect.

It's left somewhere I have no reason to be, won't be passing. Probably half hour drive.

I don't want to seem ungrateful but it's probably a small box of malteseers or something. I don't want to go collect it unless it's worth the trip & can't really ask what it is.

Would you bother going to get it? I was hoping someone would email to say thanks and give some sort of hint as to what it is but nothing since Monday.

I would go for half an hour. Could be something really thoughtful and then you havent thanked them properly.

I'm far too curious, I'd have to go collect it and find out what it is. And now you've posted on here you'll be bullied into collecting it by me because we all want to know what it is too. Don't leave us in suspense

The cost of petrol would make me think twice about making the journey, tbh.

No idea why they didn't post either. Either it's fab and expensive to post it or it's not even worth the postage.

Think I'll go get it but will probably be some time next week.

Curiosity would get the better for me and I'd go and get it.

Can you message someone else in the group privately - someone who is likely to have gone and collected theirs (do you know who lives the nearest?) and find out what it is from them? (Assuming everyone's getting the same thing)

Really? I love my down time, if you work out your hourly work rate, then include fuel - is it really worth it for a box of malteasers or a homemade cake?

If you’ve done them a favour in some way, I would just email, thank them for the thought and ask what it is. I think it’s pretty rude to expect you to to drive to collect so I wouldn’t be to worried about it not being the height of good manners to ask.

Could you ask someone else if they collected it?

Update as promised, curiosity got the better of me so today myself at my colleague made the trip at lunch time.

No parking so I waited illegally in the bus lane while he ran in to collect my "treat".

Very surprised when he arrived back with a fabulous big gift box, very pretty ribbon etc. Looked great but when he got in the car his first comment was "it's very light, definitely no drink in it!"

Anyway, we drove back to the office and opened it.

I wish I could post a picture but it has company logos branded all over it.

I am now the proud owner of the following branded gifts:-

A pen
A notebook
Some post it notes
A key ring
A canvas bag for life
A t-shirt that is 6x too big
An apron (also massive!)
