the man I am seeing texts me first but when I reply he gives one word answers to each text? Why is he doing this? Sometimes it’s just ‘yep’ etc

Sounds like he's just checking you're still on his hook but doesn't actually want to interact to me. Sounds very tiresome.

Possibly mind games. Next time he text reply in the same way. If he draws attention to it he is likely aware of him doing it. If not it’s just who he is.

Minimum effort.

A guy did something similar with new once, he was just checking he still has my attention though he didn't deserve it. I was going enough to tolerate it for longer than I should but I wouldn't again, it was all very hollow and self-serving of him.

He doesn’t really like you but he’s keeping you engaged enough to get his leg over when he wants. Are the messages generic or is there something personal in them? Wouldn’t surprise me if he was mass sending the same text message to however many girls he’s got on the go at the moment

I think he believes I am wrapped round his middle finger so has to make very little effort.

Whatever his motive, he's shit at conversation so I'd ditch him on those grounds alone
