Not mumsnet, this site is source of valuable information and entertainment but another well known site.
I had been trying to delete the account but there's a 30 day thing where you can return (I think you all know what I'm talking about but I don't want to name it as it may be seen as advertising).
The account is attached to an ancient email I no longer remember password for.

I then had a brainwave: if I changed my password for the log in to the website to something totally random and destroyed the piece of paper it was written on (or put it somewhere really difficult to retrieve) I couldn't log on again.

I know this is a first world problem but my mental health isn't good at present and I don't want to know about every silly comment someone barely know has and although nobody has a perfect life, this site tends to give impression they are.
AIBU to think this will work?

What is the 30 day advertising thing? You can name names on here, I don't understand why you can't delete an account

Milly2016 · 07/07/2022 15:01

The account can be deleted but there is a 30-day window to return.

I know exactly what you mean.

Howver, it’s quite useful for businesses, a lot only advertise on there, it can be great for the children's clubs or change in arrangements etc same for school. Plus the advertising sites are sometimes good, howver yoir feed tends to get full of crap from things you’ve serched

Why not block all communication from friends and leave it open for anything else

I don't think I can easily retrieve the piece of paper upon which I've hidden the password - that's the whole point. Lol.

I might, taking into account what you've said, just set up a new account but send no friend requests as it has occurred to me that there is a community site I've joined which I am going to miss.

Why bother writing the password down the first place?

Why bother writing the password down the first place?

Because it has to be typed in at least once and if it's totally random - which is the point-I won't remember it the second time. Get it?
