Johnson or Raab till they get a new leader?

Johnson seems to think he should continue as Prime Minister till the Conservatives elect a new leader in the Autumn, as is the convention.

Others seem to think Johnson cannot govern any longer and Raab as Deputy PM should be appointed as caretaker PM while the leadership elections take place.

Who would you prefer?

YABU: Johnson, for continuity

YANBU: Raab to calm the situation

Raab.

He's dreadful, truly dreadful, but Johnson can't be left with the keys.

I’d prefer Raab. I find it bizarre that Boris wants to stay on when it’s clear that no one wants him.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 07/07/2022 14:46

Raab. Johnson on the front bench is visibly damaging to the government.

Appuskidu · 07/07/2022 14:50

Raab, definitely.

3 months more of Boris Johnson would be dreadful; he’s a total liability. God knows what he might do.

TyrianBannister · 07/07/2022 15:01

Raab.

Dominic Raab, within a couple of weeks even if he stands to be leader he will be out of the contest and so a genuine caretaker.

Incompetent as opposed to being incompetent and evil. Mr Johnson who does not take sexual assault seriously should leave now.

Raab was deemed good enough to keep the seat warm for Johnson while he was incapacitated with Covid. Johnson can hardly pretend he doesn't think him fit for the office now.

Out of a poor choice... Raab

Nobody in their right mind sacks a narcissist & then leaves him alone with the keys
