Hands up I went into a Clean Air Zone area, I didn't know the area, hate driving around this particular city as I'm totally unfamiliar with it. Anyway I got caught last year and have appealed as I was in a different city, only went into for a couple of minutes, was on my way to having radiotherapy for cancer.
I did it, I was caught, no problem but hope they would show me some empathy in the circumstances. I also was off work due to the cancer and having to travel a lot for different treatments, having cancer is actually pretty expensive in terms of parking costs and petrol.
If I had paid straight away it is £60, but because any appeal takesr 4 weeks, their delay not mine, I have to pay £120 as the early payment reduction is removed.
This means that if anyone appeals a Clean Air Zone fine, they lose the right to pay £60 and get penalised by having to pay £120.
My moan is not the fine itself, I did it, it's a fair cop, but because I've appealed, they have now taken 10 months to review it, I may have to pay double? That doesn't seem fair.
