Wrong topic, now I’ve put my soft furnishings up to be judged on AIBU 😱 oh hell!

Navy or a darker sage or a thick cream. Hope multiple options help…. 😬

Thatswhyimacat · 05/07/2022 22:01

Also navy or sage, or dark grey.

Wouldloveanother · 05/07/2022 22:20

Thanks. I’m thinking navy 🤔

A dark olive green.

Nagy and light sage don't really go together, Op. Why did you choose them.

MiniPiccolo · 05/07/2022 22:47

Navy too*

MiniPiccolo · 05/07/2022 22:50

Actually OP, I have just seen one pic where it works. But only really with an edwardian aesthetic.

I'd say a stone or stoney beige heavy curtain. It would complement the colours really well.

alphons · 05/07/2022 22:53

Gold
cream
navy/cream check or pattern
bright pink/deep magenta
deep red

Depends on the shades, size of room, size of furniture, sunlight, ceiling height, sill height, length of curtains, formal/informal, primary living or snug etc.

Throckmorton · 05/07/2022 22:53

How about something patterned that includes both colours to pull the theme together as it were?

It looks a bit like this (also period house and same-ish floor)

I'd go with navy

That’s what I’d do too. Like a William Morris type stylised floral print with navy and sage, along with a coral/terracotta or something.

Check out ellethehome_bird on Instagram, she has a navy sofa and sage walls.

My first thought was also a William Morris (inspired or actual) pattern.

Alternatively, a natural beige colour in a natural material (e.g. linen).

knackeredagain · 05/07/2022 23:32

Coral. If you are contrasting colours I always think three are better than two. I love navy and sage together.

JaninaDuszejko · 05/07/2022 23:35

My initial reaction was sage but I agree a pattern with some navy in is a good idea, I'd go with something lighter than the William Morris though. I think a navy sofa and a predominantly navy curtain will compete too much for attention.

SwedishEdith · 05/07/2022 23:57

Some of these designs would work

Please no grey. This whole grey thing has to stop. For the last several years everyone has painted their houses grey, inside and out. Even kitchen cabinets are always grey now. I swear it’s one of the causes of the rise in depression. It’s awful. It must be like living in a battleship

timbee2b · 06/07/2022 04:50

I definitely wouldn’t go for solid navy, I think it will look a bit clunky or jarring. If you want a solid colour go for something more natural, like stone or beige like a previous poster suggested. I have a similar colour scheme although my sofa is a lighter blue than navy. I have curtains in this fabric and it looks lovely (it’s been discontinued, but for ideas the colours go really nicely and it doesn’t make the room dark)
(Not the best photo, it’s lighter in real life)

Totally agree! There’s a woman I follow on Instagram who’s taken it to the extreme. I actually thought she had the black and white filter on her pictures but…no…it was just grey central in her house 😬 Looked like she was living in a black and white movie.

jeaux90 · 06/07/2022 06:58

Are shutters an option instead? I think they look nice in period homes.

I love mine Grin

DilemmaDelilah · 06/07/2022 07:55

That is more of less exactly the colour scheme I have in one of my bedrooms! It is pulled together with liberty style patterned curtains in a navy and khaki colourway and a navy and beige patterned rug. (The carpet is sage). For those who say the colours don't go together... Yes they do! It looks fabulous. I took the inspiration from a couple of tiny original oil paintings of Australia that I have in there.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 06/07/2022 07:58

I’d go for coral/magenta/pinks as a contrast and to add some interest
