Would an ex-wife of a royal still be viewed as royal in the eyes of media/public.

What do you think?

It’s a no from me.

Princess Diana was.

Like Fergie?

Not exactly royal but her children are do not exactly a commoner either.

Testina · 04/07/2022 23:05

Leaving aside that Princess Diana would widely believe considered the most Royal of Royals by her hardcore fans, no - most people in my opinion would think of an ex-wife as a former member by marriage of the Royal Family, but no longer “royal” themselves.

Princess Diana was.

She was no longer HRH so definitely a change. The Princess of Wales title that she kept was either a recognition of her status as mother of the future king or a bit of PR by the royal family as she had public support and dirt… depending on your cynicism level. It didn’t make her “royal” in my opinion, just someone with a courtesy title.

Ponoka7 · 04/07/2022 23:31

Definitely not if they were a commoner. Diana was aristocracy and her Son was going to get the top job. I view Fergie as someone who has been paid for their silence and for doing PR on behalf of her Dad's. So no. Peter Phillips ex wife isn't royal, neither is Anne's first husband etc.

Ponoka7 · 04/07/2022 23:32

" doing PR on behalf of her DDs"

Officially she wasn't 'a royal' anymore.
But in the eyes of the media and the public... I think she was in the main.

No.
Why do you ask? Planning to divorce?
