Over 10 years ago, I got our council tax band changed from and E to a D, as ours was the only house on the street in that banding (following Money Saving Expert’s tips).
I was recently checking my direct debits when I noticed my council tax DD had risen from £140 to £206. Logged in to my account on the council’s website to find not only have the monthly payments gone up, but that our tax band has changed from D to E. I’ve spoken to a number of neighbours, and none of them were aware of the band change. AIBU in assuming the did this to avoid the council rebate due for homes in bands A-D?
